The majority of training takes place at our Design Studios in Leicester where we house excellent facilities. We have a team of experts at hand taking
you through the training program. All training is tailored to suit the exact needs and requirements of the user so from day one you will be working with your own fabrics!The following training schedule is a guide
only and may change according to the experience that you have or don't have! DAY 1: Overview
- An introduction to the Monarch software, its purpose and role within a knitting environment
- An explanation of folder organisation within Windows, manuals and help files, etc
- Colour Charts, printing out and explanation of colour charts provided
PED (Design Program):
- Getting started with a new canvas and pull down functionality
- Tool box, set up and customisation
- An overview of the tools and their functionality
- A demonstration on the ease of creating a design
- 'Practical'- Getting used to the tools
DAY 2: Scanning & Colour Matching
- A recap of the tools and learning the quick tool functions for advanced selection
- Scanning from fabrics, photographs or pictures
- Colour Reduction
- Colour matching to yarns in stock and colour charts
- Creating and saving colour palettes
- 'Practical'- Scanning and Colour Matching
- Changing colours and creating new colourways
- Visualising designs in correct gauge and colours
- Printing out designs in true colours for in-house and storyboard presentation
- Saving patterns within the 'Knitworks' folder
DAY 3: Technical- designing for your machine
- A demonstration on creating a simple 2 Colour Jacquard in PED ready for knitting
KNITWORKS (Technical Program)
- An explanation of the Knitworks hierarchy, the folder set up and interaction with PED
- Machine folders and how to create new machines with correct controller information
- Dragging and dropping a design onto the machine
- Writing to disc and viewing the Technical Graph and all data created back into PED
- Copying, pasting and deleting 'Fabrics'
- Viewing all data in 'Set Up Editor' and printing out
- 'Practical'- Drag and drop designs onto your machine and view the technical data
- Graphic and Symbolic output
DAY 4: PED and KNITWORKS Recap
- A recap of the tools in Ped
- A recap of creating and saving a simple 2 colour jacquard ready for knitting
- A demonstration on inserting stripes and structures into a jacquard and saving ready for knitting
- 'Practical'- Design a pattern for your machine
- A recap of the folder set up in Knitworks
- A recap of dragging and dropping designs
- Dragging and dropping multicolour jacquards and more complex designs
- A full explanation of yarn table, striper data and all technical data generated automatically
- Digging into the Set up Editor
- 'Practical'- Drag and drop and Set Up Editor
DAY 5
- 'Practical'- working hands on with your machine. Creating designs and seeing the results instantly
- General overview and all questions
