Due to their comfort and fashion appeal, polyester polar fleece fabrics have enjoyed a huge success and proved ideal for many end uses including
active outdoor sportswear, leisure wear and fabrics.Self colour, marls and printed polar fleece have all been popular but the market is now looking for something different. To meet the ever changing demand of
fashion Monarch has introduced the concept of double-sided or reversible polar fleece, knitted on its new VX-DSP single jersey, double-sided loop machine, which is offered in gauges 14-20 for super lightweight fabrics.
It is now possible to knit a different yarn on the face loop from that used for loops on the back of the fabrics. Thus, by combining the physical properties, visual and aesthetic characteristics of a wide range of
spun, flat and textured filament yarns - bright and dull - knitters have been able to develop a completely new range of fabrics.
Much of the "added value" of double-sided loop fabrics is achieved during dyeing and
finishing. Each side can be independently treated to achieve the required effect, so it is possible to have each side dyed a different colour, one side brushed, one side unbrushed, one side cropped for a velour
finish or one side left to give a normal loop finish.
The interest and demand for such fabrics is huge. Garment manufacturers are already beginning to recognise the potential.
